Netflix just confirmed it: all eight episodes of The Diplomat Season 4 land on Thursday, October 15, 2026.
The show has always been about more than embassies and international crises — it’s a high-stakes, contemporary political drama about the transcendence and torture of long-term relationships between countries, and between people.
Season 4 leans into that harder than ever. According to Netflix’s official logline, two marriages threaten to eat each other alive.
One catastrophic moment shatters the fragile peace Kate Wyler brokered between the US and UK, as well as the crumbling marriage she’s trying to save.
Meanwhile, President Grace Penn and VP Hal Wyler’s conspiracy to steal Russia’s most powerful weapon hurtles the United States toward war.
The new teaser gives us a glimpse of Kate and Hal trying (and struggling) to reconcile — Kate tells Hal she isn’t trying to get out of the marriage; she’s trying to get back in, admitting their relationship swings between highs and lows and warning that “the fights are gonna be spicy.”
Keri Russell, Rufus Sewell, Allison Janney, and Bradley Whitford all return, so expect the personal stakes to hit just as hard as the geopolitical ones.
Mark October 15 — the embassy is reopening.
