How Bridgerton Season 4 Can Fix THAT Problematic Storyline

My thoughts on Bridgerton Season 4. I’m super excited about It; obviously, I am a huge fan.

That being said, the book was not my favorite. While I do love the Cinderella trope, the book (to me) was a little icky. Benedict in the book isn’t… great. He’s a little jerky and show- Benedict is MUCH nicer, kinder, and open-minded.

The show also spent a lot of time showing Benedict as a rebel (not just as an artist like in the book). He explores different relationships and different types of relationships, and he has a bi-storyline that I don’t think can be ignored in this season.

Are we just wasting this hot guy?!?

*Spoilers for the book*

In the book “An Offer From a Gentleman“, Benedict meets Sophie (long story) and then asks her to be his mistress. In the book, this comes across as snobbish and uncaring. However, in the show this actually makes a lot of sense.

We just had a whole storyline where Benedict and Lady Tilly Arnold got together. Lady Tilly introduces Benedict to a new world and then asks him to commit to her because she has decided she wants to settle down after all. Benedict decides this is not what he wants, and he wants to continue exploring, etc. and tells her no.

Now, I think we will have a similar situation, but in the end, Benedict will say yes to Sophie (in contrast to Lady Tilly, where he says no).

I think that is going to be his struggle- whether to give up his freedom for her.

Thoughts?
