While you may have already seen this addition to the list, I would be remiss if I did not include this hit series with its star-studded cast. Jason Bateman and Laura Linney lead the dysfunctional Byrde family, who get sucked into a world of money laundering, drugs, crimes, and violence.
With lots of suspense and jaw-dropping moments, you won’t want to miss a moment of drama. Due to lots of violence, profanity, and drug / crime-related content, this series does carry an MA rating and is definitely for grown-ups only. It’s a great one to binge after the kids are fast asleep.
Stranger Things
This popular series has become a pop culture favorite and has launched the careers of many of its young cast. Set in the 1980s, it follows a group of teenage outcasts who investigate when a friend goes missing.
This series is a must-watch for Generation Xers for generous throwbacks to 80’s fashion, culture and a rocking soundtrack. While my own teens don’t get the lack of parental supervision that the young characters have as they solve the mysteries and battle the creatures and villains, those of us who grew up as latchkey kids in this decade totally get it.
While I admit the plot has gotten more extreme with every season, it’s an imaginative and original series for those who love sci-fi and horror rolled into one. Winona Ryder was born to play the stressed-out mom, and David Harbour transforms in so many ways his role alone is worth watching this series
The Crown
Can’t get enough of Britain royals and their family drama? This historical drama series tells the story of Queen Elizabeth II from when she first ascended to the throne to the present day. While much controversy has been made over the series, including its casting, it provides a unique and dramatic look inside Britain’s monarchy.
The Umbrella Academy
Based on the hit comic book series of the same name, this superhero drama series reunites a family of dysfunctional superheroes after their father’s death to save the world.
Told as a series of side stories and flashbacks, the outrageous characters and unbeatable storyline make this original series one to watch from beginning to end.
Teen actor Aidan Gallagher steals the show as Number 5, and Robert Sheehan’s role as Klaus is worth watching the series alone.
Black Mirror
A futuristic anthology, this dark Netflix focuses on some of the negatives of the modern technology we use daily.

House of Cards
An action-packed political thriller, House of Cards explores the ruthless world of politics and the quest to become President of the United States. Dark and suspenseful, every episode keeps viewers on the edge of their seats.
Watch for spectacular performances from Robin Wright and Kevin Spacey. While this award-winning series was wrapped up after the sixth and final season, it’s still a must-watch for everyone who can’t get enough of the political chaos that occurs in Washington, D.C.
All of Us Are Dead
This Korean apocalyptic drama is a different twist on a zombie series as high school students try to escape their school, which has been hit with a zombie virus.
Much like the hit Korean series Squid Game, All of Us Are Dead is dubbed and also has subtitles available since it was filmed in the actor’s native language.
While a second season has not yet been announced, the ending varied from the series’ inspiration, so it is possible we will see more episodes in the future.
Bridgerton
If you’re a fan of historical dramas, then chances are you’ve at least seen a preview of this hit series based on the best-selling novels by Julia Quinn.
Focused on the eight close Bridgerton siblings, the series follows the characters as they look for happiness and love in the high society of London.
