Streaming TV has opened up amazing and endless possibilities for enjoying all forms of entertainment. No matter what type of programming you love, there is something for everyone. This list is just a few great hidden gems that you might have missed. Keep looking, and you’ll be amazed at what you discover.

The Good Place

A feel good comedy led by Kirsten Bell and Ted Danson and supported by a talented cast, this sitcom features the afterlife in a way I never thought possible. While the later seasons plot lines struggle, the series is a must watch, plus as an added bonus it teaches you creative ways to swear in front of the kids.

Russian Doll

Natasha Lyonne shines in everything she does and this sci-fi drama series gives her the perfect platform to show off her fantastic wit and dry humor. A young woman who is stuck in a time loop, she revisits her life choices as she tries to figure out what is happening.

Resident Alien

An alien sent to destroy earth learns that his mission is more complicated than it seems. Passing as a human by watching past episodes of Law and Order, Alan Tudyk is charming as he attempts to fit into a small Colorado town and starts to learn what it really means to be human.

Reaper

A young man who found out his parents sold his soul to the devil, becomes Satan’s bounty hunter with the help of his best friend. While the plot line is, of course, outrageous, the content is hilarious, and the performances are outstanding. It’s a perfect comedy to watch when you need a bit of a pick-me-up.

Dead Like Me

Another cult classic themed around a grim reaper, a young underachieving woman is randomly killed by a toilet seat. Instead of moving on to the afterlife, she instead has to work as a grim reaper for a specialized crew led by the always spectacular Mandy Mandy Patinkin. Unfortunately, being a reaper doesn’t pay the bills so she has to work a day job as well.

I was a huge fan of this series when it originally aired and have been enjoying it again on streaming. I just found out there was a follow-up movie to the series that I can’t wait to check out.

Detectorists

When scouting TV show hidden gem lists, one comedy always seems to rise to the top of the rankings. The comedy Detectorists follows a group of friends who are passionate about metal detection and hope to someday make a big discovery.

Travelers

One of my favorite sci-fi shows in recent years, I’m always disappointed that so many TV fans have never heard of it. This time-traveling plot twister was an amazing adventure and was canceled way too soon. Fortunately, you can still check it out on Netflix.

What happens when some formerly dead residents magically reappear in a small town not only alive, but also in perfect health?

My husband and I loved this Australian series with this fascinating premise. The first few episodes are a slow warm up, and I almost abandoned the series, but I promise it’s worth the wait and you’ll want to keep watching.
