Have you watched “My Lady Jane” on Amazon Prime yet? The new, very funny and irreverent, TV show hit our screens last week and it does not disappoint!
Just read this logline: Are you ready for an epic tale of true love, high adventure, regicidal maniacs, deadpan heroism, devious intrigues, swashbuckling swordfights, a soupçon of magical realism and oodles of yearning, banter and undeniable chemistry? Of course, you are. Welcome to My Lady Jane.
But if you, like many others, binge-watched it really quickly and looking for something to help fill that void, then check out these shows!
The Great

I think this show is the closest to “My Lady Jane.” It takes a historical event and person, and it deliberately turns history on its head. It doesn’t pretend to be accurate and the result is a part comedy and part drama as it follows how “Catherine the Nothing” becomes “The Great”. The enemy-to-lovers romance in this show is unparalleled greatness.
The Buccaneers

Apple TV’s newest period drama sucks you into the drama as we follow American girls who head to England to find husbands. This show is based off a novel by the same name by Edith Wharton. It takes the historical romance, and like “My Lady Jane”, it makes it a modern story with a modern soundtrack.
Bridgerton

Netflix’s hit show is a must-watch! It adds a modern touch to the traditional Regency Romance storyline. This steamy show is wildly popular, as is its spin-off, “Queen Charlotte”. It is a must-watch for anyone who loves a bit of steam in their historical romance.
Outlander

Like “My Lady Jane,” Outlander was a romantic book series turned into a serial drama. Like “My Lady Jane,” it has a much spicier storyline, perfect for anyone who wants a little more heat in their period romance TV shows. There is a lot of violence in the show as well so be prepared.
The Empress

The only bad thing about this one is that you’ll be back into the same cycle of waiting for the next season once you’re done. Set in the mid 1800s it follows the true story of how the Princess of Bavaria became the Empress of Austria.
Peaky Blinders

Peaky Blinders takes place a century after “My Lady Jane”, but it’s definitely a great option for someone who liked the mysterious subplots “My Lady Jane” had to offer. While it may not be a romance, you’ll be enthralled by the setting and the characters.
Versailles

If royalty is more your thing, Versailles is a must-see period drama for “My Lady Jane” fans. All those beats of love, hierarchy, power, betrayal, and manipulation that you love in “My Lady Jane” are all here in Versailles—and I know you’re going to love it. The court intrigue of “My Lady Jane” is nothing like that of “Versailles”.
Marie Antoinette

Produced by the BBC and Canal+, Marie Antoinette is a stunning period drama that follows the true life of this amazing woman. If you loved the true-to-life aspects of “My Lady Jane” (as changed as it was), then this show is for you.
The Tudors

Who has more drama, romance, and excitement in their lives than Henry VIII? Released in 2007, The Tudors was insanely popular. It’s a great show to binge-watch for anyone who loves period dramas. This show takes place a few years before “My Lady Jane” officially takes place, and we see Edward, Mary, and Bess’s fathers and mothers angle for their positions in court. Of course, the Etrian storyline is kind of missing but it works.
The Serpent Queen

Another great 16th-century period drama, The Serpent Queen, follows the story of Catherine de’ Medici as she moves from Florence to France and weds a nobleman. Her real-life story leads to her producing three heirs and ruling alongside them, but this period drama shows the dark side of what got her there
Reign

Set in the 1500s, Reign is great for “My Lady Jane” fans who love the politics behind marriage. It’s based on the true story of Mary Stuart—the queen of Scotland—as she plans to wed the prince of France for a political alliance.
