You’ve Been Warned: These 12 Movies Are the Absolute Worst of the Worst

We’ve all seen bad movies, but can you think of the absolute worst movie you’ve ever seen? To help jog your memory, we rounded up some of the most common fan answers to this very question, and to be honest, there’s some truly awful films on this list.

If you haven’t seen some of them, consider yourself lucky… Or maybe missing out on a laugh?

Five Headed Shark Attack

This was one of the more popular answers to “what is the absolute worst movie you’ve ever seen”, I think in part due to this hilarious fan comment: “Astute viewers may notice that the shark only has four heads.”

Spoiler alert: About 30 minutes into the movie it’s revealed that the shark does, in fact, have five heads. The fifth is on his tail… Because that makes sense.

Redneck Zombies

You might already know this is a horrible movie, but if you haven’t heard of the 1989 flop Redneck Zombies it’s about some rednecks who use toxic waste in their moonshine, which turns them into zombies.

If movies like Attack of the Killer Tomatoes and The Blob are “B” movies then Redneck Zombies is a “Z” movie. It had a budget of about $10,000 and definitely shows.

One comment pretty much sums up the quality, “[it] was like two kids in the backyard with mom’s video camera”.

Manos: The Hands of Fate

It’s not fair to judge older movies harshly through our modern movie-making lens, but in this case Manos: The Hands of Fate was terrible back then too. Filmed on an incredibly low budget that would have probably been entirely forgotten had it not appeared on an episode of Mystery Science Theatre 3000 in the early 90s.

Don’t believe me? It was voted as the 2nd worst movie ever made by IMDB users, beat only by Disaster Movie.

Disaster Movie

How’d you like that segue? The only good thing about Disaster Movie is that the title sums up the quality accurately. Created by the same duo as Scary Movie, it’s unfunny, poorly directed, and terribly written.

Eragon

Fans of this book series who haven’t seen the film should skip it or prepare for extreme disappointment. Not only is the movie bad but it’s also totally unrecognizable from the source material. A real shame, too.

Abduction

The plot of Abduction makes it sound like a good movie but don’t let that fool you; it isn’t. Horrible writing and mediocre acting come together in this poorly paced action thriller.

If you’re still unsure, I’ll include my favorite critic quote here (from Kyle Smith of the New York Post) to help deter you from watching Abduction, “actual abduction may be preferable to the movie of the same name, but only if your kidnappers don’t torture you by forcing you to watch it”.

Artemis Fowl

Another movie based on a beloved YA book series, this one is considered to be one of the worst because of how badly it represented the main character. In the books, Artemis is a cold, calculating antihero genius. In the film, he’s more of a normal “relatable” kid.

“Artemis competently surfs. In the real ocean.” one fan commented in dismay.

Besides all that, it was also just boring and not very good overall.

Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters

Since it’s a bit tired at this point I’m not even going to mention how much this film loses the plot from the books. Instead, we’ll just talk about how bad it is even if you haven’t read the books: and let me just say, some fans consider Percy Jackson and The Sea of Monsters to be the absolute worst movie they’ve ever seen.

It’s also worth noting that the series author, Rick Riordan, has decried the movies and refused to watch them after reading the scripts.

I Know Who Killed Me

This is an interesting one for this list because for some it’s one of the worst movies ever made, and others praise it as a modern-day/western giallo style film due to its mix of psychological, slasher, supranational, and sexploitation elements.

Assuming you’re not into cult B movies, though, you’re probably going to find I Know Who Killed Me to be downright terrible.

Jeepers Creepers 3

The only thing scary about this movie is how awful it was. Between that and what the director has done (he’s a horrible person) it’s probably for the best if we all just pretend these movies never existed.

“Jeepers Creepers 3 gave me a whole new appreciation for Jeepers Creepers 2.” one movie watcher chirped.

Jaws 4

You know when a movie series is popular and they give it too many sequels, eventually running it into the ground? Yeah, that’s what happened with Jaws 4. They should have stopped at one… Or at least 3.

Dracula 3000

This sounds like an older movie but you’ll be surprised to learn that it came out in 2004. Unless you were a big fan of the wrapper Coolio or horrible vampire movies you probably missed this one, and if you ask most people on the internet, it’s probably best if you keep it that way.
