If you’re in need of a good laugh you’re in luck: we rounded up 12 of the funniest laugh-out-loud movies for you to check out. Because there’s funny, and then there’s laugh-out-loud funny. And there’s a big difference between the two!

Hopefully, you enjoy these films as much as we did.

Imagine being alive for so long and still being this dumb? What We Do in the Shadows is a mockumentary movie about some vampires who have been living together for a long time, but are currently trying to adjust to modern life. It’s so funny.

If the over the top parts of Airplane! make you chuckle then Wrongfully Accused will have you laughing out loud. It also stars Leslie Nielson but this one’s way goofier than his other films.

The Big Lebowski

A lot of people consider The Big Lebowski to be a top-tier comedy movie and there are definitely some laugh out loud moments. The best part is it gets funnier every time you watch it!

Death at a Funeral

If you like British black comedies Death at a Funeral is going to have you in stitches. The whole movie is set during a funeral as the characters keep running into (and trying to solve) a series of absurd problems.

Super Troopers

The best part about Super Troopers is the laughs just keep going since you’ll be quoting this classic until the end of time.

Clue

A lot of people consider Clue to be one of the funniest movies ever made, and it’s (in my opinion) criminally under appreciated. Yes, it’s actually based on the board game – but the movie itself is one of the funniest black comedy movies you’ll ever see.

Rat Race

One person online said that “Rat Race has no business being that funny.” which is probably the best way to describe this 2001 comedy. I actually watched it with my kids recently and it holds up; despite knowing what would happen I was still laughing out loud!

Wet Hot American Summer

The prequel series for Netflix is also good but it doesn’t compare to the original movie of Wet Hot American Summer. Starring a hilarious (and now very famous) cast, you’ll be shocked to learn that it was actually a critical and commercial failure when it came out. So… Ignore the reviews.

Step Brothers

At first glance Step Brothers looks like one of many stupid, mediocre comedies that came out around that time (2008) but it’s actually a stand-out hit that will have you giggling the whole time. It’s about two lazy, grown men who each live with their parents. Then their parents get married – so they become step-brothers. So dumb it’s funny.

Shaun of the Dead

When it came out Shaun of the Dead really caught people off guard because it seemed like a disaster movie (zombie apocalypse) but was actually a parody/comedy. This combo ended up being a huge success, and the result is a movie that’s impossible not to enjoy as the characters deliver their hilarious deadpan lines.

Superbad

Yes, it’s a teen style comedy, but Superbad had something different going on with it when it came out. What made it so laugh out loud funny? Well, the casting was perfect, the script was highly quotable, and the story had some real, touching moments to balance out the silly antics.

Blazing Saddles

Voted the Funniest Movie of all time by Rolling Stone, Blazing Saddles is the movie to watch if you want something laugh-out-loud funny. Satirical and way ahead of its time, Blazing Saddles is a rare 70s comedy that continues to hold up to modern scrutiny.

I saw someone say they walked out of Oppenheimer because it was just a bunch of talking (I loved it, by the way), but it got me thinking: what film can be summed up as “nothing really happens” – and that most people actually agree with?
