The Top 12 Funniest Movies of All Time According to the Internet

Need a laugh? We rounded up the top 12 funniest movies of all time, at least according to people on the internet. Whether they’re your top picks or something new to watch, these films are guaranteed to make you laugh all the way though.

In fact, I’ll bet you’ll be quoting most of these long after the movie’s over.

Some are super popular comedy classics, others college comedies, and of course there’s good old fashioned satire on the list! If you haven’t watched all these hilarious movies add them to your “watch later” for whenever you need a laugh.

Superbad

One of those college comedies we’re still quoting after all these years, Superbad is a modern classic that everyone should watch at least once. Even if it’s not your style of comedy you just can’t help but laugh at someone getting a fake ID with “McLovin” or the way the police take their report.

Airplane!

If you haven’t seen this 80s icon you’re in for a treat. A parody of disaster films (think Snakes on a Plane), Airplane is a surreal, fast-paced slapstick comedy with non-stop gags and running jokes.

Office Space

Long before The Office ever found its way onto TV we had Office Space. Even if you’ve never worked in an office this movie is absolutely hilarious.

UHF

80s kids might remember UHF , but the younger generation is in for a treat if they decide to tune into Weird Al Yankovic’s feature film. Sure, it bombed on release – but that’s because it was competing with blockbusters Batman, Lethal Weapon 2, and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids back in 1989. It’s still a great movie!

Old School

The perfect mix of college comedy and movie for adults, Old School is about a group of guys in their 30s who want to relive their college days by starting a fraternity. Starring Luke Wilson, Vince Vaughn, and Will Farrel this plan goes about as well (and hilariously) as you’d expect.

Borat

While Borat wasn’t Sarah Baron Cohen’s first creation it’s definitely the one that put him on the map. Given how often people still quote this movie it’s hard to believe it came out back in 2006! If you haven’t seen it (or haven’t watched it lately) throw this one on for a laugh.

Tropic Thunder

So many silly comedy movies have come out over the years, especially in the 2000s, so it’s easy to forget some of the better ones! Tropic Thunder is the perfect example: this satirical action comedy was written and directed by Ben Stiller. If you like his style of comedy check it out!

The Big Lebowski

A classic at this point! The Big Lebowski is one of those movies that gets funnier every time you watch it.

Dumb and Dumber

Dumb and Dumber is one of my favorite childhood comedy films. It stars two extremely stupid best friends (played by Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels), who are trying to do the right thing by returning some money they found. A few sequels came out after the success of the initial film but the first is by far the funniest.

Scary Movie

It’s thanks to Scary Movie that we ended up a slew of movies parodying popular films. While it wasn’t exactly the first parody ever, Scary Movie flawlessly merged several iconic horror films into one hilarious story. When it was released, Scary Movie had mixed reviews, mostly due to the comedy style – so decide for yourself if you love or hate this iconic film.

My Cousin Vinny

It’s not always laugh out loud funny but My Cousin Vinny certainly is one of the funniest movies of all time. You just can’t beat the hilarious style Joe Pesci brings to his comedy roles!

A rom-com, yes, but a lot more on the comedy side. There’s Something About Mary surprised audiences with its off-beat jokes that will still have you in stitches if you watch it today. If you don’t believe me, it’s worth mentioning that There’s Something About Mary has appeared on multiple “funniest movies of all time” lists including one by the American Film Institute.
