12 TV Series That Were Good From Start to Finish – At Least According to Their Fans

No one wants to get into a show only for it to start getting bad part way through the series. We’re all busy; there’s no time for bad TV! So if you’re looking for the next great show to watch you should definitely check out one of these TV series that were good from start to finish – at least according to their fans.

Band of Brothers

Often considered to be one of the best mini series around, Band of Brothers is the real-life story following a WW2 parachute infantry regiment from their training through the major events they participated in. Since it’s only 10 episodes there really isn’t any time for it to stop being good and Band of Brothers is a must see for anyone who likes war dramas.

The Wire

Pretty much everyone who’s seen The Wire recommends it. Despite running for 5 series it managed to stay interesting and truly good from start to finish. Even the final season, which admittedly was a little silly, is still enjoyable!

Fleabag

Written and created by (and also starring) the hilarious Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Fleabag is 12 episodes of some of the best BBC comedy episodes you’ll ever see.

If that hasn’t piqued your interest then this comment might: “Start to finish is not just good, it’s some of the best writing in any media ever. An incredible character study.”

Breaking Bad

Where some shows start to fall apart or get stale into their last season, Breaking Bad does the opposite. The series is amazing and the ending is one of the best in TV history. If you liked Breaking Bad then the spin off show, Better Call Saul, is equally fantastic from start to finish and you really need to watch it.

Schitt’s Creek

It’s hard to find multi season comedies that manage to stay good from start to finish and Schitt’s Creek is a rare gem in the genre. Part of what makes this show so good is that it feels like a culmination of all the experience Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara have gained throughout their comedy careers.

Maid

Another mini series for the list, Maid is even better knowing it was based on a memoir, not a work of fiction. Not only is the pacing perfect (doesn’t drag out since it’s a limited run) the show’s star, Margaret Qualley, gives a phenomenal performance.

Justified

A must-watch cult hit that aired from 2010-2015, Justified is back in our minds because they just released an equally awesome limited sequel in the summer of 2023.

Fawlty Towers

Fans of Monty Python will love this hilarious comedy written by and starring John Cleese. Even after all these years (it came out in 1975) fans still recommend checking out both seasons of Fawlty Towers if you’re looking for a show where every episode is a banger.

Black Sails

It’s important to know what you’re getting into if you decide to watch Black Sails: it’s a prequel to the classic novel Treasure Island. In true Starz fashion expect a lot of drama and slow burn, but in a good way; if you like that sort of thing (and pirates!) then you’ll also consider Black Sails to be a TV series that’s good from start to finish (just like its fans do).

Fringe

Fringe is one of my favorite shows and I totally agree with fans who say that the whole series was fantastic. Unfortunately it’s hard to say it was good from “start to finish” because it was cancelled too early – leaving us with a somewhat disappointing ending. Don’t let that stop you from watching it, though!

Midnight Mass

Another show that won’t require a lot of commitment, Midnight Mass is a seven episode horror miniseries about a priest who’s spreading faith in a small town. Of course, things aren’t all what they seem…

Midnight Mass was made by Mike Flanagan, the guy who created The Haunting of Hill House and several other popular horror miniseries. (All of which are considered amazing by fans, by the way!)

Dark

Only 3 seasons long, Dark keeps you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. Telling the story of a small German town looking for two children who have mysteriously disappeared, Dark is often considered to be one of the best Netflix original shows on the platform.
