Shows have to be popular for a reason, right? Well these TV shows should appeal to a range of folks, but they might not be for everyone. We wanted to know what TV shows people tried really hard to get into, but just couldn’t.
These are all pretty popular series so if you found you didn’t click with one you’re not alone in that feeling!
Grey’s Anatomy
Some people just couldn’t get into it and these folks definitely don’t understand how it lasted so many seasons. Others said that they started watching it in childhood and stuck around to see how it ended – but that’s the only reason they were still into it after so many years.
The Man in the High Castle
This one had great potential and looked like a great premise (it’s an alternate-history) show, but viewers were expecting (and wanting) a lot more than what The Man in the High Castle delivered. Even fans agreed that it could have been more interesting!
Arrow
Another show with a great premise, Arrow feels like it should have been a lot better than it was – especially for comic book fans. One especially confusing aspect was that it crossed over with other CW shows, which meant new characters would appear in the show with little to no explanation.
How I Met Your Mother
While plenty of people dislike where this show went after a few seasons (and especially at the end), there are others who couldn’t get into How I Met Your Mother from the start. They described the main characters as unlikable and hard to watch.
The Big Bang Theory
It’s not uncommon to see criticism for The Big Bang Theory online, but what’s interesting is folks who tried to get into it but couldn’t.
“It just reminds me of how often I’ve been a nerd with bad people skills.” one commented. Another suggested that “A dumb person’s idea of a show about smart people.”
Either way, definitely not for everyone!
The Masked Singer
Speaking of shows that normally get critique, this reality TV show is another one that people judged for something other than being trite.
Apparently, it’s pretty boring, and one person even said, “Everything I watched I would fall asleep.” Definitely not good for a TV show review.
The Handmaid’s Tale
The Handmaid’s Tale was really hyped up at the time, especially since the book is so poignant. Unfortunately not everyone got into the show. Even if they liked the story, they just didn’t enjoy this TV adaptation. Even more, some were turned off watching a series with a prominent scientologist in the lead role.
Tiger King
Whether it was because of their issues with animal cruelty seen in the show or the “unlikeable” cast of characters, plenty of people didn’t get into Tiger King when it was super popular and definitely don’t care for it now.
90 Day Fiancé
Some fans of reality TV couldn’t get into this one because it’s so dysfunctional. Others didn’t enjoy the way it switched between couples, which made it harder for them to watch.
Outlander
Outlander is often praised as one a great option for people who enjoy sexy and steamy TV shows, but there’s a lot of content in the series that’s actually a turn off for some people.
This is especially true when it comes to sexual violence; some romance fans don’t appreciate these darker scenes appearing in a show that would otherwise be enjoyable.
Disenchantment
I can agree with this one – Disenchantment might be an apt name for this show depending on how you feel about it. Created by Matt Groening (The Simpsons), a lot of people tried to get into this animated series but just couldn’t.
Westworld
As a Micheal Crichton fan I was definitely into the Westworld TV series, but I can totally see how it wouldn’t appeal to some. It was also a bit confusing and hard to follow. To be honest, these folks dodged a bullet jumping ship early though: the later seasons aren’t nearly as good as the first.
