Let’s face it: some sitcoms really aren’t that funny, even some that everyone says are funny. And a lot of Millennials with Boomer parents grew up exposed to sitcoms that in retrospect look offensive. Nevertheless, there are some that really are funny. Following are 15 that lots of Millennials love.
Parks and Recreation

Plans to turn an abandoned industrial park into a public park become hopelessly complicated. While making us laugh, this show satirizes all the usual people and red tape that hinder good intentions.
Arrested Development

After a father goes to prison, his son has to run the family business. Despite devoted fans and mostly positive reviews, viewership was low, and Fox canceled it after three seasons. Netflix later brought it back for two more.
Frasier

This was a Cheers spinoff focused on Dr. Frasier Crane, played by Kelsey Grammer. During its 11 seasons, it received critical acclaim and numerous awards.
The Fresh Prince of Bel Air

Will Smith played a streetwise young man from a rough Philadelphia neighborhood whose mother sends him to live with wealthy relatives. This series established Smith as a serious star, and he would go on to become one of Hollywood’s top actors.
The Nanny

A cosmetics saleswoman with a no-nonsense New York approach to life becomes the nanny for a wealthy widower’s children. Her influence helps create a happy, healthy family.
Seinfeld

For nine seasons, this “show about nothing” delighted watchers with its cast of dysfunctional characters. George Costanza, Kramer, and Newman are among the most unforgettable sitcom characters of all time.
Curb Your Enthusiasm

For the first seven seasons of Seinfeld, Larry David was the executive producer and main writer. In his own show and playing himself, David has a knack for being able to ruin almost any situation.
Night Court (The Original)

A lot of people with Boomer parents saw this show as kids and found it funny. Then they grew up, got more of the jokes, and realized it was even funnier than they thought.
Golden Girls

Here’s another show that a lot of Boomers enjoyed. Their kids didn’t so much, and can you blame kids for not wanting to watch a show about a group of old ladies? It’s experienced a resurgence in recent years, and it turns out those old ladies are a lot of fun.
That 70s Show

The focus of this show was the lives of six teen friends growing up in the 70s. It made big stars of Topher Grace, Mila Kunis, and Ashton Kutcher.
Sanford and Son

For its time (the 70s), this was an edgy show. It was an early show about African-American characters that presented their perspectives instead of casting them as stereotypes.
All in the Family

Tandem Productions.
Another controversial 1970s series, this is one of the most misunderstood ever. Yes, Archie Bunker often acts like a bigot and misogynist, but the show is holding up people like him for ridicule, not celebration. This is apparent when you see how everyone else reacts to him and how he usually ends up backing down or learning a lesson.
The Jeffersons

Besides, All in the Family introduced us to George Jefferson. He proved so popular that producers made this spinoff about the Jefferson family and their lives as African-Americans living in an upscale apartment complex.
Friends

One of the most popular sitcom series ever, this show gave us a young, attractive cast of characters portraying a group of friends living and working in Manhattan. Over 10 seasons, the show consistently was in the top 10 in ratings and hit #1 in Season 8.
The Office

If any show on this list vies with Seinfeld for popularity and remarkable characters, it’s The Office. Everyone knows or has worked with a Michael, Dwight, and other characters representing typical workplace personalities.
